Milford Oyster Festival returns for 49th installment Saturday The 49th annual Milford Oyster Festival was held Saturday. The event features 30,000 oysters, all locally sourced from Long Island Sound. Along with oysters, the festival featured vendors, arts and crafts, a car show and sidewalk sales. Lou Gramm, from Foreigner, was the headlining musician. There were also oyster shucking and eating competitions. Although Connecticut's Department of Public Health has warned people of eating raw shellfish following the death of two people due to a vibrio infection, the state Bureau of Aquaculture said Friday that Connecticut's shellfish have never been associated with the infection.
