(Shutterstock) NEW MILFORD, CT — A man is accused of assaulting a New Milford police officer during an incident Monday afternoon in which the officer's gun was discharged during the struggle, according to multiple reports. FOX 61 reports the officer was responding to a 911 call around 2:50 p.m. reporting a man approached a child on Stone Tent Road. The child entered a nearby home and the officer was struck several times by the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Matthew Gambone of New Milford, according to FOX 61.
